Bank mergers and acquisitions are a common occurrence and are being driven by the changing dynamics of the banking industry. Success in bringing two banking organizations depends on many factors, including people transitions, technology conversions, and product marketing changes. Success is not assured, however, as there are many risks and pitfalls to be avoided. During this presentation, Crowe experts will describe techniques and approaches for managing an effective integration. Examples of what Crowe sees banks doing successfully will also be provided.

Speaker:

Mark Shaw and Maddie Stupinski

Mr. Mark Shaw has over 40 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, specifically in the areas of operations, technology implementation, process improvement and technology product support.

Prior to his work at Crowe, Mark served as Senior VP and Chief Services Officer for COCC, the 6th largest financial institution data center in the US. During this time, Mark was responsible for the client services division which encompassed all aspects of the company’s technology products including customer support and relations, client training, system conversions and strategic product and service direction. In addition to this, Mark started COCC’s Professional Services Group where he advised community banks and credit unions on a variety of topics including profitability, customer management and bank technology strategy as well as project management and technology implementation consulting.

In addition to his experiences at COCC, Mark has held several senior management positions with multi-billion dollar community banks throughout New England. In these roles he was responsible for IT, operations, branch administration, regulatory and legal compliance and project management. He has also taken part in managing several bank merger and acquisition fulfillments.

Maddie Stupinski is passionate about providing the best combination of technology and insights to empower people, satisfy clients, and streamline processes. In her time at Crowe, she has conducted comprehensive vendor selections, developed innovative strategic plans, implemented credit risk management solutions, created and executed system training curriculums, and driven process transformations. Prior to her two years at Crowe, she worked at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago in Mortgage Partnership Finance and Member Support. She graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelors in Finance and Technology Management.
