This 2-part session will dissect all of the issues with account ownership and documentation of personal, business, estate and trust accounts. We will walk through the account opening operation from the starting gate to the finish line.
 

Opening even a basic checking account can be an operations involving considerable time, paperwork, and risk! Every accountholder’s situation is different and there is often uncertainty about account ownership, the required identification, and how to conduct appropriate due diligence. Meeting the regulatory requirements along with making the customer aware of all the products and services your bank offers to meet their needs and striving to provide a positive service experience throughout the process, can be a daunting task.

This jam-packed session will dissect all of the issues with account ownership and documentation of personal, business, estate and trust accounts. We will walk through the account opening operation from the starting gate to the finish line and provide you with loads of tools you can incorporate into your process.

  • Best business practices for differentiating between credit underwriting and transactional underwriting;
  • Providing a practical business practice for setting effective exposure limits,
  • Providing an understanding of how to effectively monitor and perform your periodic risk reviews;
  • Following effective and efficient methods for handling over-limit activity;
  • Understanding Red flags to help you identify that an account or accounts may have increased risk and when to escalate;
  • Creating a practical and effective periodic review process

Dawn Kincaid began her banking career working for a community bank, while attending The Ohio State University. She has nearly fifteen years of experience in client service, operations, information technology, administrative and board relations, marketing and compliance. Most recently Dawn served as the Senior Vice President of Bank Operations for a central-Ohio based community bank, where she created and refined the bank’s policies and procedures, conducted self-audits and risk assessments, and organized implementation of new products and services. She has served in the roles of Compliance, BSA/AML, CRA, Privacy and Security Officer and led training initiatives, prepared due diligence information for and completed a variety of regulatory applications and coordinated internal and external audits and exams.
